The project
Bakeneko was created during the 2023 TUM (Technical University of Munich) Game Jam, which I entered with friends from university.
The idea draws on Japanese mythology: Bakeneko are friendly but mischievous ghosts that haunt people and buildings.
A tanuki ghost steals an elderly woman’s belongings. The Bakeneko try to protect her by shapeshifting into the stolen objects.
The house level
Different objects are scattered around the house. Their placement is randomized at the beginning of the game.
